State Senator Terri Bryant (R-Murphysboro) released the following statement in response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s unanimous 9-0 ruling to overturn the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision to remove Donald Trump from the Colorado state ballot. This ruling has also vacated a similar decision made by a Cook County Judge last week.
“I am encouraged by the U.S. Supreme Court’s unanimous ruling to overturn the Colorado case that led to a Cook County activist judge’s decision to remove Trump from the Illinois ballot. The fundamental foundation of our state and nation’s democratic system is the right of the people to choose their elected officials. I am pleased to see our nation’s Supreme Court recognize and respect this fact.”
