State Senator Terri Bryant (R-Murphysboro) released the following statement after learning about the sudden passing of Illinois State Senator Scott Bennet:
“The news of Scott Bennett’s passing is absolutely devastating. He was such a smart, kind, and effective public official, but more important than that, he was just a wonderful person. Scott was truly one of the good guys.
“You could have a real and honest conversation with him about anything. He would show you respect and would listen to your thoughts and concerns even if he completely disagreed. Just last week, I enjoyed laughing and joking with him on the Senate floor after debating against each other on legislation. The people of our state lost a great public officials and even better man.”
