Bryant supports Fourth District Appellate Court’s dismissal of the Governor’s appeal

State Senator Terri Bryant (R-Murphysboro) issued the following statement after the Illinois Fourth District Appellate Court rejected the Governor’s appeal of a lower court ruling that nullified his COVID-19 mandates for schools:

“Throughout this entire pandemic, the Governor has done everything he can to consolidate his unilateral power over our state’s response.

“The fact that the Governor has decided to lift his indoor mask mandate for virtually everyone but continues to fight for the power to mandate masks for schools makes that power grab very clear. The people of Illinois have had enough of his go-it alone approach and nonstop attempts to control their lives.

“The Governor needs to learn to respect the other two co-equal branches of government and share the decision-making process.”
