Bryant continues efforts to address bridge safety concerns

State Senator Terri Bryant is bringing attention to an ongoing safety concern in the form of a dilapidated bridge in Jefferson County.

The decades-old bridge has posed an ongoing safety hazard to Illinois motorists, yet nothing has been done by the railway company to address the issue.

“For almost 7 years, I have been pushing to demolish the railroad tracks and bridge, demanding that Canadian National, the owners of these rails, take responsibility for their property,” said Sen. Bryant. “Yet, my calls for action have gone unanswered. Enough is enough.”

Sen. Bryant has reached out to Canadian National several times over the years regarding the issue, and is continuing her efforts to have the bridge torn down to make the roadway safer and more efficient for Illinois motorists.
